Salt Cathedral Schedule
Every day from 9:00 am to 5:40 pm
How to get there?
From Bogotá, take the Autopista Norte towards Chía (north). Three kilometers after the Andes toll, take the right lane for the Bogotá – Chía road.
Shortly after, take the right lane again via Cajicá. Before entering Cajicá, take the right again for the Cajicá – Zipaquirá road (also known as the Cajicá bypass) and continue along it for 15.5 km.
At that moment the road becomes Calle 1 of Zipaquirá, which ends at the beginning of the ascent to the Salt Cathedral.
In the third curve of the ascent to the left is the parking lot of the cathedral.
From Bogota, take a TransMilenio bus going north (buses B) and get off at Portal Norte. It is important not to leave the portal and go to the southeastern part where the exit is to take the inter-municipal buses to Chía, Cajicá and Zipaquirá.
We recommend using the Moovit app to find the best route to TransMilenio’s Portal Norte.
Take a bus bound for Zipaquirá and get off at Carrera 15 with Calle 1B. From there you can walk 1.5km uphill (approximately 24 minutes) or take a taxi.
Walking you should go up to the northwest on Calle 1B to the La Casona Shopping Center, take a left on Carrera 11 and a right on Calle 1 bordering the shopping center.
Then you must continue along Calle 1 to where it ends. There is an arch that marks the beginning of the road to the salt park, where you must go up to reach the pedestrian entrance of the Salt Cathedral, where our kiosk is located.
Tren turístico de la sabana
The “Turistren” only works on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. It can only be taken in Bogotá at the Sabana Station (Calle 13 No. 18 – 24) or at the Usaquén Station (Av. 9 No. 110 – 08).
It is not possible to buy only one train journey, the tickets are round trip.
On the official Turistren website you can check the schedules as well as purchase the tickets.
Apps (Uber, Cabify, Didi, Beat)
Although it is possible to use this type of application to get to the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, relying on them is not recommended since, due to the distance between Bogotá and Zipaquirá, it can be difficult for drivers to accept the route.
If you want to use this means, the best alternative is to use Uber’s “Hourly” option and hire a driver for hours who is waiting during the visit to ensure the return to Bogotá.
